Market Prediction

Forecasting what the market will be doing is critical if suppliers, consumers and devices are to make smart decisions about their energy consumption. It’s not good enough knowing after the fact, we need to know what is going to happen in advance.

The first market prediction we will be offering is our internal Net Imbalance Volume (NIV) predictor. This is a prediction of the imbalance between demand and generation for each half hourly settlement period. The Tempus NIV predictor uses machine learning and historical data from multiple data sources to predict the imbalance volume for the subsequent two hours. By better understanding the factors that drive imbalances in the energy market we hope to enable suppliers, consumers and devices to better manage their demand, enabling a smarter grid through the power of data.

Flexibility Optimisation

Tempus combines market forecasting with the ability to predict electricity usage and understand how flexible assets perform in different conditions. This information allows us to optimise use of flexible assets during high cost and high carbon periods.

Our building and asset prediction tools learn from data available in any modern Building Management System, battery storage device and flexible assets.  This optimisation can be used for price or carbon emissions, bringing together energy market forecasts and building level predictions to make sure the right asset is doing the right thing at the right time.
